10 days of winter break went by too quickly. I had intended to do so
much but then got busy in other 'engagements' and so there's work piled
up for the last day of winter break.
Yumna, thy name is procrastination.
Lets
see, there are trackers to be made and there are lessons to be planned.
I managed to get presents for the students who will have done the best
job on their vacation homework, so nothing to worry about there. What
I'm really worried about is the lesson plans. With topics like light,
sound, magnetism and electricity coming up (yes, in 3rd grade!), I need to ensure they are taught in an interactive manner so that maximum learning takes place.
I
still remember the lesson I conducted on force and friction and how the
students' eyes shone with excitement when they saw that I had brought
in toy cars to explain the concepts to them. I want to see more of that
spark and I believe that is only possible through engaging lesson plans. I've been picking up some ideas from the treasure trove known as the world wide web, and am hoping to find the resources to be able to execute them properly.
Another
thing I'm excited about: There's been this campaign on TV lately by the
name of Zara Sochiye. It emphasizes on the importance of education and
how it can lead one out of poverty and dependency. Well one of the
people who went on air to share how education pulled them out of their
misery is an alumnus from my own institute. I managed to reach him and
asked him if he would be willing to deliver a motivational talk to the
students of my school any time in the next week and he replied with
interest. I really really hope that we manage to pull this off because
his story is one which many students will be able to relate to.
Here's the link to the video that has been playing on TV lately: Zara Sochiye- Ashraf Chaudhry
<3, as always!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, if you could Ashraf Chaudhry to come address these children, that would be great! He is someone they can relate to! I hope you can get him to come!
Have i ever mentioned i wouldn't have minded having you for a teacher? :p
